Not the best of starts to the year if I'm going to reach my 2,500-mile target. Work commitments and the weather have been stacked against me this month. But I needed to get out today: I've been facing this mounting sense of foreboding about the world and where it's headed, what with Trump and May and Brexit and Farage and Johnson (not to mention that little man Grayling and his utter contempt for cyclists). So some clean(ish) air in my lungs was long overdue.
There's that quote from Ghandi (although he probably never used these exact words) that "You must be the change you wish to see in the world". Well Trump surely is the change that he wants to see in the world. And that frightens me.
