On my second day of blogging I posted an article on the Dutch designer Ko Sliggers (by the way, I've had to update that post: it originally referred to what was then Ko's website, but the link now takes you straight to a porn site; and you wouldn't want that on a Tuesday morning in the office, would you?). Much to my surprise (and delight), that led on to a correspondence with Ko and what he's been up to.
Not long after that post Ko emailed me to say 'Beware: I'm switching back to food in the future, therefore I raised (as a test case) two wonderful pigs and I was really impressed by the 'profondeur' in knowing so well both the outsides and insides of this wonderful creature. 100% biological of course. I'm preparing a book about the whole project which will be released October 2007.'
Of course, it seems rather odd (with me being a vegetarian and all) that I should be promoting a book about meat, but the book did get published (though in Dutch only at the moment). You can find it here.
But what's all this got to do with France?, I hear you say. Well, as Ko said, he was switching back to food: and that switch has seen him relocate to France to open a restaurant in the spring of 2008. It looks as though (if you're a meat eater) it might well be worth a visit. And if you do, remember to tell Ko that I sent you.
Meanwhile, you can check up on Ko's graphic work at NAGO.
