I have to ask the staff at the Spa shop near me to not give me a plastic bag when I buy the Guardian. They look at me like I am mad, as the people buying the Daily Mail always enjoy taking a bag with their paper. (he said smugly)

I'm a Guardian man, but regardless of newspaper preference I cannot stand people who request a bag for their morning paper. It's completely ridiculous.
I remember working in a supermarket back in the day. I always imagined the Daily Mail readers were taking the bags to suffocate themselves with at home. Wishful thinking it seems given the Daily Mail remains the UK's highest selling daily.
