I've been working pretty hard this last month. So, as a treat, this past weekend threw up the opportunity for a small excursion. Usually, that might be a trip to the coast (there's something very calming about gazing out to sea). But we were looking for somewhere inland and a little closer to home. Which steered us in the direction of one of those places that I always promised myself that I'd visit one day, but never gotten around to. And, in this case, it was the NewArtCentre. at Roche Court in Wiltshire.
What a magical and inspiring place. How could I have possibly driven past it so many times without dropping in? Sculptures by Anthony Caro, Helen Chadwick, Barry Flanagan, Allen Jones and Richard Long, to name just a few. And all displayed in the most wonderful parkland setting.

And it's not just the sculpture and the setting. There's the new gallery extension and the Artists' House, designed by Stephen Marshall, which makes you truly appreciate just what a first-rate architect can achieve within a small domestic setting. And the accompanying newsletter is designed by the equally first-rate John Morgan Studio. For any designer, or anyone who appreciates the value of art and design, this is a little piece of heaven on earth.
And I'll be going back again very soon. You ought to as well, if you ever get the opportunity.

That looks great. And in Wiltshire too. Brilliant.

But only just in Wiltshire, it has to be said.
